South African Airways will resume flights to Rwanda, suspended 5 years ago. The thrice weekly service will start on October 31st 2011, with A319, probably in code share with RwandAir (see the bottom of this page).

Flights between South Africa and Rwanda started in 1998, with Alliance Express of Rwanda, until 2002. In 2003, both RwandAir and SAA provided flights between two countries. SAA operated a triangular service (Johannesburg-Kigali-Entebbe (Uganda)-Johannesburg), while RwandAir operated flights via Bujumbura (Burundi). RwaandAir now operates 4 flights a week to Johannesburg.

SAA will also add flights to Cotonou (Benin) via Libreville (Gabon) and to Bujumbura.
