Rwanda attracted 1,075,829 visitors in 2012

In 2012, Rwanda has welcomed 1,075,829 visitors having shifted from the 2011 number which was 908,001 visitors.
This represents an increase of 22%.
Rica Rwigamba, in charge of Tourism at Rwanda Development Board (RDB), attributes the increase of visitors to the fact that Rwanda is a safe country.
She added that the department of Tourism is in the process of continuously reinforcing product diversification by focusing on the quality of services in this sector.
According to Claire Akamanzi, CEO of Rwanda Development Board, tourism is an important sector of the national economy.
It makes a valuable contribution to national income and the Vision 2020 program, notably by creating jobs and attracting investors.
