With the introduction of the last B737-500, RwandAir has increased flights to Johannesburg and Kilimandjaro .Johannesburg flights are now operated 5 times a week. The new flight is operated on Monday. Kilimandjaro flights are now operated 4 times a week. The new flight is operated on Sunday, with CRJ-200LRs instead of Dash 80-Q200 :

From March 3rd 2011, RwandAir will launch flights to the Congo capital, which is Brazzaville. Flights will be operated three times a week, with the possibility to transfer on the Dubai flights, but also to Nairobi (Kenya).

Rwanda expects to have a new airport in 2014 and has set aside $98 million as capital for its national airline over the next three years with a view to then selling it off once it breaks even, a top government official said on Friday.

 

RwandAir was expected to break even in 2013. The government had spent some $84 million to buy two aircraft from Deutsche Lufthansa after getting a $40 million loan from th Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank (PTA) earlier.

 

RwandAir has  acquired two Bombardier CRJ200 craft for $14 million and expects two Boeing 737 aircraft, due for delivery in 2011.

Effective from August 1th, RwandAir will use its B737-500s to Nairobi. Nairobi route is operated two times a day.

 

Morning flights departs from Kigali at 4.00 a.m and arrives at 6.15 a.m (local time) at Nairobi. From Nairobi, flight leaves at 8.30 a.m and lands at Kigali at 8.45 a.m (local time), is still operated with CRJ 200s.

 

Evening flights departs from Kigali at 4.00 p.m and arrives at 6.15 a.m (local time) at Nairobi. From Nairobi, flighs leaves at 8.00 p.m and lands at Kigali at 8.15 p.m., is operated with B737-500s, only on tuesday.
