Jambo Jet to fly to Rwanda ?

10/08/2011 :

A new airline in the East African Community (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania & Uganda)

There is no doubt, EAC is one of African’s most dynamic region, in the aviation sector. Qatar Airways (Uganda), Etihad & Condor (Nairobi), Turkish Airlines (Rwanda) and South African Airways (Burundi & Rwanda) will start to fly in the coming month.

On August 9th, Kenya Airways CEO announced that they will launch a low cost airline in the coming month. Its name will be Jambo Jet and the airline will compete Fly540, JetLink (Kenya), Air Uganda or RwandAir.

In recent years KQ lost the monopoly in the region on the point to point trafic, espacially in its domestic network, in Uganda and in Rwanda. On the Juba route (South Sudan), KQ is in competition with Fly540 and Jetlink.

No infos about the launching date and the fleet, but KQ recently added ERJ aircraft and will take delivery of three more ERJ190s…. this summer…..wait and see.
