RwandAir orders two CRJ-900NGs (Next Generation) with two in options

The Rwandan’s national flag carrier announced today, that it has ordered two Bombardier CRJ-900NGs with two others in option. The deal  is valued at approximately $89 million US. The value of the contract would increase to $185 million US should both options be exercised. Deliveries will begin in October 2012.

 

The seat configuration will be of 7 seats in buisness and 68 in economy class. Those aircraft will be used on regional destinations such as Uganda, Burundi and on future route to Juba (South Sudan).

 

Early in 2012, RwandAir sold its two CRJ-200s after experiencing a major growth on its regional flights.

 

About the CRJ-900NG :

 

Like the other members of the CRJ Series family, the lightweight and advanced aerodynamics of the CRJ900 NextGen regional jet deliver improved efficiency and reduced operating costs compared to other aircraft in its class. The combination of larger winglets and other enhancements since the launch of the CRJ900 aircraft give the CRJ900 NextGen regional jet excellent airfield performance and excellent fuel consumption. CRJ900 NextGen aircraft have new interiors with larger overhead luggage bins, larger windows, improved lighting and redesigned ceiling panels and sidewalls.

Worldwide, CRJ Series aircraft are in service with more than 60 airlines and have logged more than 32 million flight hours and 27 million take-off and landing cycles. In addition to airline operations, more than 30 customers operate corporate variants of CRJ Series aircraft.
